Do I need to be fit before I start?

No. Many of our clients begin with little or no recent training experience. Your first session starts with a conversation, we assess where you are, understand your history, and build from there. There is no baseline requirement to train at AK Fitness. You just need to be willing to begin.

How is personal training different from the semi-private group sessions?

Personal training is fully private, just you and Amadu, with a programme built entirely around your individual goals, movement needs, and training history. Semi-private group training runs in a fixed pod of 4 people with the same coach and same group every week. Both options follow structured 8-week training blocks with progression tracking. The right choice depends on your goals and budget, we'll help you decide during your consultation.

How much does it cost?

The studio runs four classes a week and there are two cohort memberships. Connect is $145 per week and gives you any three of the four classes. Inspire is $180 per week and gives you all four, which works out to the lowest cost per session. Personal training is one-to-one with Armi and is priced in your free consultation, once we know how often and how long you want to train. It includes a full movement and fitness assessment, body measurements re-checked as you progress, a training programme for outside the studio, and support around the clock rather than only in session. Class packs are available for casual entry after a trial session, at $350 for five. The first class is free for anyone wanting to experience the coaching environment before committing. What happens in the first session?

Your first session begins with a conversation. We discuss your goals, training history, any injuries or concerns, and what you want from coaching. We then move through a movement assessment to understand your current capacity. There is no pressure to perform, the goal of session one is clarity, not intensity.

Question 5

Can I train if I have an injury or haven't exercised in a long time?

Yes. We regularly work with clients who are returning after injury, surgery, or long breaks from training. Sessions are adapted to your current physical state with a focus on movement quality, gradual progression, and building confidence safely. We work closely with physiotherapists where needed and can adjust programming at any point.

Where is the studio located and how do I get there?

AKFITNESS Studio is at 354 Bridge Road, Richmond VIC 3121. We're accessible via the Bridge Road tram, and there is street parking available nearby. We serve clients from Richmond, Cremorne, South Yarra, Abbotsford, Collingwood, Hawthorn, and the Melbourne CBD.

What is the cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are forfeited. This policy exists to protect the structure of your programme and respect the time of your coach. Life happens, we're human about genuine emergencies, but consistency is part of the process.

Is there a trial option before I commit to a programme?

Yes, and it is free. You can book a single trial class in one of our semi-private group training sessions at no cost. It gives you a firsthand experience of the coaching environment, the group dynamic, and the training quality before making any commitment. Classes cap at four people, so the spot is booked to a specific time rather than open-ended.

Do you work with older adults?

Yes, we have a dedicated Older Adults Personal Training programme for clients aged 60 and above. Sessions focus on functional strength, balance, joint mobility, fall prevention, and maintaining independence. Many of our older adult clients come to us from physiotherapy referrals or after periods of inactivity. The environment is calm, private, and completely free of pressure.
