What it costs

Small group training, capped at four people, is $145 per week for any three of the four classes (Connect) or $180 per week for every class (Inspire), billed fortnightly by direct debit. A class pack is $350 for five sessions, $70 a session, valid for six weeks. Personal training is one to one and priced in your free consultation. Athletes train one to one for $135 a session, or two players together for $85 each.

The New Year Start, eight weeks from 11 January to 7 March 2027 in a locked pod of four, is $290 a fortnight over four payments, $1,160 in total, the same rate as Connect, with the assessments, the nutrition plan and the outside-studio programme included. Full detail on the pricing page.

Over 50

Is a coach worth it after 50?

If you want to keep your strength, your balance and your independence, yes. Australian guidelines ask adults 65 and over to do strength and balance work on at least two days a week (Department of Health, 24-hour movement guidelines). From the 50s, muscle and bone are lost faster than most people notice, until a fall, an injury or a flight of stairs says so.

What a coach adds is not motivation talk. It is work that is safe when you have a history, a knee, a back or a long time away from exercise; progressive, so it actually changes something; and consistent, because someone is expecting you on Tuesday. Many of our older adult clients came by physiotherapist referral. The programme is on the older adults page, and the reasoning is in Strength for older adults in Richmond.

Common Questions

Cost and value: questions

What does a personal trainer cost in Richmond?
At AK Fitness Studio, small group training is $145 per week for any three of the four classes (Connect) or $180 per week for every class (Inspire), billed fortnightly by direct debit, with every class capped at four people. A class pack is $350 for five sessions, $70 a session, valid for six weeks. Personal training is one to one and priced in your free consultation once we know how often and how long you want to train. Athletes train one to one for $135 a session, or two players together for $85 each. Nothing is priced by suburb.
Why is one to one personal training priced at the consult rather than on the page?
Because the honest number depends on how often you train and for how long, and whether you want the assessment, the programme for the other days and the support between sessions, which are all included. Forty five minutes with Amadu settles that, and you leave with a figure, not a pitch.

If you want to keep your strength, balance and independence, yes, and the evidence is on your side. Australian guidelines ask adults 65 and over to do strength and balance work on at least two days a week (Department of Health), and from the 50s muscle and bone are lost faster than most people notice until a fall or an injury. A coach makes the work safe when you have a history (a knee, a back, a long time away from exercise), progressive so it actually changes something, and consistent because someone is expecting you. What do I get that I would not get at a big gym?
The same coach every session who knows your name, your history and your numbers. A programme written for you and changed as you change. Four people in the room at most. Body measurements and a movement assessment at the start and again as you go, so progress is measured rather than felt.
Who trains at the studio, and where do they come from?
Adults from about 35 to 65 who want to get strong and lose weight with the whole picture handled, older adults building strength for the long run, and footballers and other athletes from about 14 up. They come from Richmond, Cremorne, Abbotsford, Collingwood, Hawthorn, South Yarra, Prahran, Fitzroy, Kew and the city. The suburbs and the way in from each.
Is the first session really free?
Yes. Every new client starts with a free 45 minute consultation: a conversation about where you are and what you want, a movement assessment with no performing required, and an honest recommendation, including that this is not the right place if it is not. Pick a time.
